What is it?
You can't get much more natural than coconut oil, and the health benefits of coconuts almost seem endless, but this product is created by heating coconut oil to the boiling point and then letting it cool down. The heating process helps the components of the oil to separate out and the liquid that remains is Fractionate Coconut Oil (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride). This final product is a great component for organic skin care.
Is it safe?
This product is all natural and no more dangerous than any other part of a coconut. You can use it safely as long as you don't have any allergies to coconuts. If you do have an allergy, this will not be the right product for you unfortunately. Otherwise, you have nothing to fear from coconut oil that has gone through this process. In fact, you will find some great benefits from using it.
How can it help me in my skin care routine?
Coconut oil, especially once it has been fractionated, contains monolaurin, a type of fat that is beneficial to you body because it helps to prevent bacterial infections. The only other place you can find monolaurin is in human breast milk. As far as application of this product to your skin, you will find it to be colorless and light, almost like water, but still different enough to notice the difference, but it a great skin conditioner since it locks moisture into the skin and helps to keep it healthy. More importantly, because of its qualities, it is able to mix with most other products you might want to use on your skin to help them "lock in" more effectively leading to a better healthy skin regimen. It can be used on its own, but look for it with all of your other skin products including make up and lotions.
Is it the right choice for me?
You are probably already using Fractionate Coconut Oil (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride) with some of the products you come into contact with, so start checking out your product labels to see if that is the case. Also look into picking up a bottle and see what it can do for your skin as a stand alone product to use in your natural skin care plan. Once you have given it a try, I believe that you will appreciate the effect it has on your skin's health.
